Exciting changes for the Greenwood Course at East Horton!
Change is an understatement! Sixty acres of new land have been purchased and the Greenwood Course is being restyled and lengthened. The addition of ten brand new tees and greens will create a truly stunning Championship Course.
The Greenwood Course will open in its new format in Spring 2010. Until then the Greenwood and Parkland Courses will continue to be played in their current full 18 Hole formats until the new holes are ready to come into play in the Spring.
Designed by former Ryder Cup player and European Tour Official, Guy Hunt.
‘I was very excited when Ed & Dick Bastian approached me to redesign the Greenwood Course. My Brief was to design ten new holes from scratch and redesign the existing holes in a sympathetic manner so that the new holes would blend in seamlessly.
During my playing career, I have been classed as one of the top English golfers and played in the Ryder Cup. In my later golfing life as a European Tour Referee, I officiated at some of the best courses in the world and met some of the architects that designed them. I have kept these experiences with me and drew upon them when I designed the ‘new’ Greenwood Course.
I have constructed the course as a traditional Club Course that I expect to mature into possibly the best course in Hampshire. It will provide a challenging test for all standards of golfer and like you, I can’t wait to play the new Greenwood Course when it opens in spring 2010.’
